The 17.2-mile Hines Park Trail (and the entire Hines Park complex) is one of Metro Detroit's great recreational treasures.
This paved bike and running path follows along the course of Edward Hines Drive and the Rouge River basin, traveling through a long series of Wayne County parks and recreation areas. You'll find easy access all along the Drive and plenty of restrooms, water and places to picnic, play or relax. Edward Hines Drive features wide paved shoulders that are very popular with cyclists who like to ride fast with few stops.
Visit on Saturdays (9am to 5pm) during the summer when Edward Hines Drive is closed to motorized traffic from Nankin Mills Park to Helms Haven Park and join hundreds of cyclists, inline skaters and runners as they zoom along the thoroughfare. For a fully fun-filled day, we recommend starting at Northville West Park, just south of downtown Northville, and riding the entire trail to the east end and back again.
